Getting The Most From Your Dell Laptop Battery

Dell Laptop Computers, like many large laptop manufacturers, has experienced some problems with their laptop batteries lately and has issued a few recalls for their laptop batteries. These are precautionary at best but it is a good idea to check and see if your laptop battery has been recalled and work with Dell to get you a replacement. Many people look at laptop battery recalls as optional at best and usually ignore them. While the battery recalls for Dell are not for any issues that are immediately dangerous a defective laptop battery can not only permanently damage your laptop but it could also be a danger to you as well. So get on the Dell website today and just make sure your laptop battery has not been recalled. If it has then follow the procedure and work with Dell to get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

Like laptop battery recalls many people also ignore ideas to reduce the amount of draw on their laptop battery. Not only can you extend computing time with good battery tips but you can also extend the life of your laptop battery as well. One of the things you can do is avoid multi-tasking on your laptop whenever possible. If you are working on the internet and you no longer need to work on your word processor then close the word processor and avoid the battery drain it causes by forcing the laptop to run CPU processes for a program you are not using. It may not seem like a lot but if you can get yourself in the habit of closing programs you are not using on your laptop you will find that you get a little more computing time from your laptop battery charge.

If you are able to choose the different kind of applications you use then you may want to choose applications that are less resource intensive as opposed to applications that tie up a lot of processor and memory resources. For example, many Microsoft applications like Windows and Office require a lot of processor and memory resources to run while programs by Adobe and Linux are not as resource intensive. You may also want to make sure you do not have a lot of programs running in the background while you are using your laptop. Check out your start up program and see what programs get loaded when you boot up your laptop. Whatever gets loaded on start up will run in the background and sap the energy from your battery. Stop any unnecessary programs from loading on start up but be very careful when doing this. If you choose a program that is necessary for the laptop to run properly then you just bought yourself a whole new bag of issues. So make sure you know what you are doing with your start up program or have someone that knows what they are doing take care of it for you.
